Biography
The artists mission is to further explore painting with enamels onto stained glass and to look at making smaller pieces than those previously exhibited for people to experience the joy of coloured glass with bespoke and hand drawn imagery in their own homes.
Also to create smaller ceramic wearables, brooches, jewellery/pendants using porcelain and hand painted designs and screen printing techniques.
In addition to the above the artist is working to create 2D works using various screen and other printing techniques.
inspiration
Susan draws inspiration from both the rural and urban landscapes around her. A lot of her work has been inspired by local history, memory, and looking at the relationship between people and place and she is interested how layered processes explore how past and present intertwine.
Susan's recent practice engages with Wolverhampton's cultural landmarks, and inspires her interest in exploring other site specific work.
The work produced for her MA using a reclaimed sash window as a canvas for individual illustrated stained glass panels reflected her ongoing interest in how art can illuminate humanity's fractured connection with nature and the role technology has played in this, inviting reflection on the world around us.

Susan works across glass, ceramics, printmaking and painting, with screen printing serving as a central method for extending ideas across diverse materials.
Recent projects include screen printing with glass enamel, printing with coloured underglaze onto porcelain, and hand illustrated stained glass, all of which require kiln firings to make them permanent.
