Biography

Molly and Ellie met whilst working in the screen print industry, where they hand printed luxury fabric and wallpapers. They founded Studio Mead in 2025, sharing a studio space in the Brook Arts Hub in Stratford Upon Avon.
Their plan this year is to continue running rug/cushion tufting workshops in the space as well as setting up a screen printing hub for beginners, graduates and artists to gain access to facilities and equipment.
Having just received a bursary and sponsorship by Warwickshire Open Studios, Studio Mead is in its infancy, but as two uniquely talented textile artists, we are looking forward to seeing what creativity comes out of our Studio.

inspiration

The Inspiration for Studio Mead was founded in the pair wanting to create a space in which people could access equipment & facilities in an open and creativity led environment.
With a passion for textiles art and slow practices, with a focus on individuality and education.
Molly specialised in Printed Textiles at Loughborough University, and Ellie has a Masters in Textiles from RCA,
having been friends for years, working on their individual works and commissions. When the opportunity to combine their styles and skills and create a studio that is open to other creatives to use in Stratford-Upon-Avon came up they knew it was the ideal time to go for it.
We will be using the event to promote our workshops & studio, as well as exhibit and sell our individual works of art.

medium

Screen printing fabric and pattern design has underpinned both the artists inspiration for the past few years, and Molly will be creating prints of her botanical drawings using the newly purchased screen-printing equipment, representing what is possible in a small studio space, these will be on sale at AITP.
We hope to inspire others to create one-off artworks, pattern designs and graphic prints, allowing people space and time to indulge their ideas.
We will be allowing the public to sample screen printing and lino printing with small designs curated by us, as well as showing how the process of using tufting guns to build up surface texture works. We hope to have a tactile and interactive stall, whilst showcasing our individual practices and art to the public. Ellie will have a range of tufted cushions for sale at he event. This exhibition will follow on from the artists exhibiting in this years Warwickshire Open Studios, alongside a selection of local artists, working out of the Brook Arts Hub.
