Plaster tile - summer plants
Biography
I have been making and designing mirror frames for many years. I constantly strive to improve my work and designs through developing composition, exploring different media and techniques.
I enjoy the freedom to experiment and develop new work using a variety of materials and techniques whilst being aware that my aim is to create a cohesive body of work that has impact and common themes.
I want to create work that people can envisage in the homes brings joy and inspiration.
inspiration
My work is organic, much of the inspiration is drawn from nature, while some illustrative work has a narrative quality.
I explore patterns in nature such as floral clusters, botanical textures. Sea themes such as fish shoal, coral and shell textures. Inspiration from the natural world.
medium
I make my own air drying clay, which I use on my hand crafted Mirror Frames. My clay is typically used as a base to apply imprints from flowers and botanicals or to sculpt design on to the Frame.
For may plaster tiles I make a cast from flowers and botanicals arrange on a clay base, I then take a plaster cast of the arrangement, Its the combination of flowers, botanicals, the composition (arrangement) and my decoration that make my tiles stand out and unique. While I make similar tiles each is unique as I get one cast from each flower/botanical arrangement.
