Biography

Sarah's mission is to create jewellery designs that are unique and make people stop to wonder how they are made.
She doesn’t follow what others are creating in glass but experiments with her own techniques, often including chemistry knowledge but sometimes just amazing colour combinations.
One such technique involves sculpting shimmering mica powder into abstract shapes which are then fused inside the glass, with the clear cap of glass acting as a magnifying glass on the sculpture as if it’s encased in amber.

inspiration

Sarah's inspiration comes from her science background. She enjoys exploring the physical and chemical properties of glass and its manipulation in the kiln firing.
Not everything works aesthetically first time but Sarah loves to experiment until she has a design that was created from chemistry but is admired and appreciated by customers as a beautiful piece of jewellery.
The enamelling textures and patterns hark back to Sarah’s early career with microscope slides in a pathology laboratory!

medium

Glass is such a tactile medium and versatile. Sarah likes to manipulate the properties of glass and push the boundaries of glass fusing by developing her own methods to produce unusual jewellery designs.
Sarah's most popular range is the bubbles glass which is created by adding chemicals to the glass before firing in the kiln at about 800C.
She also experiments with enamelling on copper and each piece is completely unique and can produce some stunning unusual effects.
