Roseanna’s mission is to celebrate and honour the special bond between people and their pets through expressive, tactile portraiture. Her vision is to create meaningful artworks that capture not just a likeness, but the personality, character and emotional connection shared between an owner and their animal. By focusing on pets as beloved family members, she aims to create art that resonates deeply with viewers and evokes joy, comfort and nostalgia. Ultimately, Roseanna wants her work to be a tribute to the positive impact animals have on our lives, creating lasting keepsakes that are both visually striking and emotionally significant.

inspiration

Roseanna’s inspiration comes primarily from animals, particularly pets, and the deep emotional relationships people form with them. Growing up with two family dogs gave her firsthand experience of how profoundly animals can shape and enrich our lives. She is inspired by the individuality, character and unconditional love that pets bring, as well as by conversations with pet owners who share similar stories. Artistically, she is also inspired by texture, colour and the physicality of paint, which led her to embrace palette knives as a way to bring energy, movement and sculptural depth into her work.

Roseanna works primarily with oil paints applied using palette knives rather than traditional brushes. This approach allows her to build thick, bold layers of paint that create a highly textured, sculptural surface. By using palette knives, she embraces spontaneity and movement, letting colour and form emerge in a dynamic and expressive way. The medium enables her to capture the energy, character and individuality of animals while celebrating texture and mark-making. This technique has become central to her signature style, resulting in vibrant, contemporary pet portraits that feel both tactile and full of life.
