Biography
My mission is to help people awaken to the understanding that we are one. Each of us holds our own individuality, something to be honored and preserved, while simultaneously uniting with others to form a greater whole. Responsible for the one, and caring about the whole.
The One is always present, the many are always present.
My vision is to help create a diverse and fully inclusive world—one that recognizes unity within difference. Each painting stands on its own, yet when seen from a different point of view the One is revealed. The One I have chosen to portray this time is not defined for you—it is meant to be discovered. I invite you to find it for yourself when you step into the exhibition.
inspiration
My inspiration is my belief that art heals. I know this not as an idea, but as lived truth. I have walked through many difficulties in my life— Art carried me when nothing else could. Through art, I found a place where I could express myself freely.
Having lived in different parts of the world, I have witnessed racism and a lack of acceptance—sometimes directed at me, sometimes at others. These experiences have shaped my vision and my purpose as an artist. Compassion and kindness are two things that need to be nurtured and fed. The person you see in front of you is You in a different individuality.
This body of work is titled ONE IS ALL, ALL IS ONE. Each person is an extension of the whole. Together, we form the ONE SOURCE from which we all emerge. Though we may appear separate, we are deeply and inseparably connected.
medium
I work in encaustic, an ancient and rare technique that uses wax, heat, and pigment. My palette is a hot griddle, my paints mostly handmade—melting wax, damar resin, and carefully chosen pigments into molten color. I work on rigid surfaces, shaping forms with both control and spontaneity.
Other times I create forms and layer acrylics or oils allowing them to bleed, or burst forth in unexpected drips. Each interaction of color is deliberate yet unpredictable, a visual echo of the many paths, lives, and choices that make up the human experience. The multiplicity of colour represents diversity—the richness of races, lifetimes, and ways of being—celebrating the unique and beautiful differences that humanity embodies.
