Biography

I tell the story of loved one's lives and relationships, with images from their most important (or amusing!) moments/milestones. These are a perfect present for a 1st Wedding Anniversary - as they are both very personal and made of paper (the traditional gift for this occasion).

They are all made from recycled magazines, the colours/patterns painstaking collected, cut and put together.

The lengthy making process helps to create a unique piece of work, more personal than the mass-produced 'personal portraits.'

inspiration

I enjoy the process of making. Of recreating an image from a photograph, or a description of the moment the camera failed to record. I like that there are quicker ways/software that can mimic these images - but none can recreate the personal touch and laborious effort to make this work characterful. Hopefully.

medium

All materials are recycled from old magazines. The pieces are selected and cut to size - then arranged to build the image.

I believe that the finished article can allow a fresh look at what may be a very reproduced photograph. It also allows images that were never captured on film to appear in the life story.
