Biography

I have spent years perfecting the art of watercolour to a high level of competency, and last year had my work accepted at independent art galleries ( in North Wales where I have taken much inspiration- although I do live in Knowle, Solihull ). I have sold original art as well as high quality prints.
My mission this year is to broaden my horizons on different parts of the country, create a website and pursue social media for the first time to get myself noticed.
I want my name to be synonymous with beautiful watercolour landscapes and to sell my work at affordable prices.
I hope to be accepted for AITP which I can use as a fantastic stepping stone to achieve my goals for this year.

inspiration

My inspiration is to be immersed in what the UK has to offer us all in terms of landscape painting. I enjoy walking, photography and most of all painting - I feel blessed to combine all three pursuits.
My paintings combine detail and atmosphere using many true to life colour schemes. They evoke memories of countless inspirational places - from majestic mountains to gorgeous coastal and countryside areas one could never tire of visiting.
I love to plan my paintings with the aid of my photography to create different perspectives on well known scenes - this is as important and satisfying to me as the actual finished painting.

medium

I have spent most of my life delving in and out of different art mediums- from oils to even digital computer artworks.
I have finally realised that watercolour is my preferred medium- although I have found the learning curve to be a tricky road at times.
Having spent time on planning my painting, I will always use masking fluid to keep the light or white areas for that fresh feel to the finished work.
Using plenty of water, I paint the sky in colours that will be present throughout the painting to give it continuity. I paint the furthest areas in cooler colours and less detail to help arial perspective. I then gradually paint the middle distance to the foreground using more warmer, vibrant colours to create depth. The detail is usually kept for the focal point of the picture and this helps to draw the viewer into the scene.
