Geometric Gold Stacking Rings
Biography
I create minimalist jewellery with a fiercely feminine style. All of my jewellery is handmade from 100% recycled precious metals from my small home studio in Leamington Spa. My mission is to create jewellery that stands out from the crowd, creating an independent brand that is confident and bold and doesn't just bend to the latest trend or style. I lean away from the more generic, delicate jewellery and try to make jewellery that makes the wearer truly feel themselves. My style isn't for everyone, but that's all part of my mission.
I lean into the idea of 'affordable luxury', something which is becoming increasingly difficult in a time of rapidly increasing precious metal prices. However, rather than changing course I'm embracing the challenge and working to create pieces that hold their value through longevity.
inspiration
I'm inspired by clean lines and a geometric architectural style. My jewellery has a modern minimalist look which is echoed throughout my collections, whether in a flat matte or highly polished finish.
Sustainability is a huge focus for me. I try to work sustainably not only in the materials I use, but also through creating pieces that are designed to be worn everyday and built to last a lifetime. I'm aim to build my business around the idea of 'slow-fashion', offering services to re-plate/re-polish/repair any pieces that have been well-loved, to ensure that all of my jewellery stands the test of time. I value the idea of fewer pieces that are worn more often, over pieces bought to sit in a jewellery box and only come out once a year.
All of my suppliers are UK based and have their own sustainable working credentials. I source materials and tools locally wherever possible, and am focused on creating a business that forms part of a local art community, rather than an international sales market.
medium
My jewellery is made using exclusively precious metals. I work predominantly using 925 sterling silver, which is also the base metal used for my Gold Vermeil pieces (a thick layer of 18ct gold plated over silver). I have recently also started making in 9ct solid gold, pieces which are currently made to order.
Sustainability is central to my business model - I work using 100% recycled silver and gold, and all of my metals are sourced from suppliers who are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council. All of my offcuts and scraps are saved and re-used, all the way down to the dust.
My custom packaging is all paper-based, recyclable, often made from recycled materials and in many cases also compostable.
I am registered at Birmingham Assay Office and have a Black Octopus Jewellery hallmark, which is applied to all pieces which meet the requirement threshold for hallmarking.
