Biography

To bring Hard Shelled Gourd art to a wider audience. Hard shelled gourds are an amazing medium in art and craft being totally sustainable and I grow them at Leasowe Farm nearby.
In the USA they are a very popular art form with every state having a gourd society and they could be more common in the UK.

inspiration

My inspiration is the natural world.
Hard shelled gourds are a vegetable and I combine them with stained glass including local birds and wildlife. I also making hanging gourd plant baskets which work well with potted plants. Gourds can be made into any number of things: bird boxes, lamps or thunder gourds.

medium

Hard shelled gourds are fantastic art and craft medium. Every one is different and individual and so lends itself to different applications e.g. lamps, thunder gourds, combined with stained glass. I also make stained glass panels for wall lights and combine with natural objects like drift wood.
