Biography

What is the artists mission and vision for their work?
To share my observations of nature. Highlighting the beautiful shapes and textures in stones, fruits and seeds that so often go unnoticed. The pieces I make are intended to be tactile and textural, to be picked up, rotated and viewed from different angles.

inspiration

What is the Artists inspiration?
I am inspired by both natural and man made forms in the environment, finding and capturing beauty in the decay and erosion of surfaces and otherwise unnoticed shapes and textures.

medium

Tell us about the Artist’s medium and how they use this?
Clay has a meditative quality for me, allowing my subconscious to flow and for the clay to form shapes naturally. I use a variety of hand-building techniques to produce tactile and textural works. After an initial bisque firing I use sawdust firing, oxides and glazes to give each piece a unique finish to further enhance the clay body and natural forms.
