Biography

Jeff is proudly self-taught. He believes his pieces to be "time-bound and true" because he works slowly and at a human scale. In so doing, his pieces are imprinted with the passing of time and a sole maker's touch and intuition.

inspiration

Jeff’s works are concerned with a rekindled connectedness to the patterns of nature, quiet solitude and time slowing down. He is inspired by many ideas, but recurring themes are nature, the tropics, colours, nostalgia, and the sea.

medium

Jeff uses mainly paper in his works. He creates what he calls his "paper ballets". These are expressive works combining mark-making, collage, and paper manipulation.
As a mixed media artist, he likes to combine paper, textiles and yarns. These materials allow him to create forms that become components for his assemblages.
Recently, he has been using natural colours into his media. By using natural pigments from leaves and flowers from his garden, his paper and textile works are given the patina of time.
Jeff is also a prolific card maker. He uses traditional paper quilling in his cards and they have always been a popular choice with show visitors.
