Biography

Edwina Kung is a visual artist from Hong Kong, based in Nottingham, UK. Her work explores memory, migration, and the power of community through visual storytelling. Alongside her art practice, she brings creativity into libraries, schools, and community groups through workshops and commissioned projects.

inspiration

Edwina's practice consistently explores how we respond to our surroundings to create meaningful relationships with people, memories and places. The works she creates take inspiration from both personal and collective experiences with a sense of place, and are formed using a combination of drawing, painting, and textural elements. She develops her visual language through careful and deliberate texturing and mark-making, weaving and revealing traces of the creative process. Her work is rooted in the belief that every story is equally important and deserves to be both told and heard.

medium

To create her illustrations, Edwina uses a blend of watercolour, gouache, oil pastel, and coloured pencils, layering these mediums to bring to create her narrative through illustrations.
