The Lightness of Time

Old Potterton’s Site in the Snow
Biography
A Warwickshire Lad, who has grown up with a disability, trying to make sense of the world and capturing experiences in creative forms. This often includes photography, drawing, pastel paintings and oil paintings.
inspiration
I’m often inspired by how the light and movement within the landscape affect it and try to capture this. Often my disability prevents me from accessing nature in the way that I’d like to but my capturing it creatively I feel more connected to it. The focus of the light and movement in particular also helps me feel at one with the landscape in physically and spiritually.
medium
There are three main mediums, pencil, soft pastel and oils. Many of my day to day drawings focus on pencils drawings as I try to make sense of form, tone and composition.
The use of soft pastels is my preferred medium when the movement in the landscape is the focus as I find it the perfect medium to do this with loose and expressive mark making.
I then use oil painting for the things that particularly resonated for me and often spend several months on them, layering the paint with washes to build up the colour and make the best use of light.
