Everything that I design and make has to evoke memories of someones favourite seaside place. Wether that be from childhood, a family connection or somewhere that we all like to escape to for complete relaxation.
Another key element is making sure all the products are original and made with materials sourced in the U.K.
The Great British coastline is my inspiration. There is always a new hidden cove to explore and a stunning beach to feel the sand between your toes. It can be the sounds of the waves cascading over pebbles, the cacophony of squawking seagulls, the variety of wildlife in a rock pool, the never ending variety and textures of found driftwood, the stunning sunset over a seemingly endless pier, we are literally surrounded by coastal inspiration...
I do make lots of different products from paper and card but I am most known for my driftwood sculptures which I have been making on and off for over 30 years! I now have my own recognisable style from using the natural textures of the driftwood to create small coastal scenes. Every house is cut by hand, then painted in carefully chosen Farrow and Ball colours in a weathered look and texture before applying hand cut windows and doors. Also use foraged pieces of fishing nets, cork and metal to make other items such as fishing boxes, barrels, grass, trees, street lights and signage. Every piece is unique and is a small perfectly formed snapshot of our amazing seaside...
