Leamington Favourites

Flowers from Lucy's Garden

Summer Teasels and Agapanthus
Biography
I'm told my work is uplifting and relaxing, so I try to keep doing what I'm doing! I love painting places and things that are special to people and hearing why they really hit the mark.
I work with several galleries so I don't often meet buyers in person, meaning face to face interaction is a joy. I try to do at least a couple of big events a year when exhibitions permit. Having had to duck out of AITP for the last few years, circumstances this summer mean I'd love to come back if I'm successful with my application.
inspiration
I'm probably inspired by too much! Every holiday, trip to London, walk along the river, trip to a National Trust property, purchase of a bunch of flowers or new piece of ceramics means I'm keen to get painting in order to capture the moment. This does sometimes have its drawbacks, when I should be working to a deadline on something else.
I have painted my local area lots of times - Leamington, Stratford, Warwick etc.
medium
I use acrylic paint and self-painted collage on wet-strength tissue paper. I create textures by scratching and stippling and sometimes use crayons and Posca pens for finer detail. All work is varnished and unglazed as I encourage people to touch the surface.
In addition to originals, I produce cards, tea towels and prints as I like to cater for all budgets.
