Bright beads

New colours

My glass beads display
Biography
I am a glass lampworker and my mission is to show people how these beads are created, this is a method of working that hasn’t really changed for hundreds of years and it is great to show people how beads and marbles are created.
I create bright vibrant beads and combine them into wearable art that brings stand out colour to any outfit.
My vision is to bring glass and colour to people’s jewellery collections.
inspiration
I have always loved glass, as a child I was fascinated by the work of glass blowers and the colours they could achieve in their work.
When I found lampwork I realised that I could work with glass on a smaller scale.
I am inspired by colour; colour in gardens, painting, packaging, clothing. I love to see how layers of colour in glass can be combined to provide vibrant small bursts in each small bead.
medium
I work with glass and a torch.
Each bead is hand made, melting the glass over a hot flame before shaping it on a mandrel. Colours and layers can then be added before the bead is kiln annealed.
After being annealed I then combine the beads to make pieces of jewellery.
