Biography
Within my paintings, I explore colour, light, and form through still life with the aim to create calm feelings and bring out the extraordinary in ordinary objects. I also use printmaking techniques to explore images created first in sketches using etching and collagagraph. I have also recently started exploring form through creating metal abstract sculptures.
inspiration
I am inspired by colour and form and the beauty in everyday objects. I am inspired also by the history of still life painting and producing a contemporary response to this.
medium
For my painting practice, I use oil paints. I use traditional artist oils as I love the way they can be used to create effects through layering and glazing. I also like the strength of the pigments and particularly like Michael Harding and Winsor and Newton artist oils. I also like printmaking with etching and drypoint/ collagraph, and have recently been exploring printmaking using tetrapak cartons with a mixture of drypoint techniques and collagraph.
