Biography
Through painting in oils my work explores colour and form. I create still life that is calm in mood whilst vibrant in colour and making ordinary things extraordinary. The still life paintings create a story in the mind of the viewer in an alternate universe of calm.
inspiration
My inspiration comes from the beauty in ordinary objects and the history of still life painting whilst creating my own narrative in that history.
medium
I paint in oils building up layers and glazes to develop rich layers of colour whilst creating a calm atmospheric mood within the work. I also work alla prima on 'daily paintings' (wet in wet one session work), this work allows me to experiment with subject matter and technique and is essential for working outdoors from life on landscapes.
