Pots with Spots
Biography
My mission is to craft joyful ceramics that brighten everyday life. Each piece is designed to be both playful and practical — from spotty plant pots and vases to bowls with holes - offering affordable, handmade objects that bring a sense of delight and creativity.
inspiration
My ceramics grow from a love of colour, nature, and the small joys that brighten everyday life. Each of my ‘pots with spots’ is completely unique, painted in a soft, summery palette inspired by scoops of vanilla, strawberry and pistachio ice cream — with the spots representing a scattering of sprinkles to bring a sense of fun. They’re designed to feel light‑hearted and uplifting.
The ‘bowls with holes’ take their cue from the sea. Their sculptural forms give a feel of coral, creating pieces that feel organic and tactile. Together, these collections celebrate the playful shapes and colours give a sense of summer.
medium
I work in both stoneware and earthenware, and began my practice as a handbuilder, drawn to the steady, forgiving nature of the process. My bowls are constructed from strips of clay formed into loops and shaped in a former. Once the structure is set, I carve back the surface to create clean, defined edges.
After investing in a wheel last year, I’ve been developing my throwing skills, creating small plant pots and vases in white earthenware to let the bright glazes take centre stage. I start with a base glaze, then layer on pops of colour in a spontaneous, playful pattern.
