Biography

I have been working in ceramics for over 45 years, I specialize in commission work focusing on loved animals, dogs, cat’s horses etc. Even though I have been doing it for 45 years I am continuously striving to improv. My mission is to be one of the world’s best true life animal artists though I think I am very close there is still room for improvement.

inspiration

I'm inspired by movement and texture, I study how the muscles, tendons, bones and skin change with movement. I try to add this to the sculptures so they are not static and even look alive.

medium

I use crank clay which I find to be a fantastic hand building clay, over time I have moved away from glazes and oxides to finishing my work in very thin washes of acrylic and enamel as this give me the ability to add shading and almost exact colour tone to achieve the best results.
