Our heritage

Art in the Park started as an idea in 2013 by Mo Finnesey. Mo was a brilliant artist and had an undeniable passion and energy to bring Art in the Park to Leamington spa. Mo was a member of the Leamington Studio Artists who helped in the early stages of making Mo’s dreams a reality.

Very early on Mo started working with Carole Sleight. Together they were able to make Art in the Park, a two-day festival a big success. Initially it started as one Marquee on Jephson Gardens, and now 8 years on, it has become a Warwickshire’s biggest free arts festival. Since day one this festival has become a passion for the Town.

Carole Sleight, and her family's passion and commitment to the festival has made it the success it is today. In 2019 Carole left to pursue other art adventures by becoming arts officer for Warwick District Council, a natural progression for someone who loves art and the community.

Mo Finnesey sadly passed away in April 2020. Mo’s passion and talent is commended in the Mo Finnesey award that is awarded to the best dressed stall every year, by her family.

In 2019, Current Festival Director, Kate Livingston took over from Carole, and she has been directing the festival ever since.
