Biography
Using large areas of gold leaf, with tactile textures and antiqued patinas, Zosia's work aims to embody a delight with the decorative object. The aim is to create a piece of art which looks like it could almost have been rescued from a derelict stately home: something shabbily grand, with the warmth of a half-forgotten thought.
inspiration
Taking inspiration from everyday interiors, landscapes, nature, and found photographs, Zosia's work is influenced by the used of gold in religious iconography, the composition of Japanese art, and textures from sculpting in plaster and clay. Sometimes paintings are a response to a place or moment in time, sometimes they are themed around evoking a feeling.
medium
Playing with the way light hits a gilded surface, changing the aspect of a picture according to the space it is hung in.
