Biography

Sam’s mission is to transform nature in to art. She wants to share the beauty that she sees and the emotion that it evokes in her, with other people through the power of art. She wants people to look at the art work and be able to relate to it, in the moment.

People lead busy lives and sometimes pass nature by, Sam’s vision is that people will look at her work and remember how beautiful and clever mother nature really is. She wants people to see and feel the energy through the use of light and shadows, whether that be the beautiful flowers or through the eyes of the animal.

inspiration

Art is Sam’s sanctuary, she loves immersing herself in her work and is influenced by the environment around her, whether that’s the rural surroundings or the south coast. Sam loves the seasons and her work is inspired by their impact on nature combined with the energy that light brings to the subject matter. The contrast of light and colour gives the feeling of warmth or cold and Sam plays with this throughout her work.

For the ocean landscapes, Sam loves painting the undulations, capturing the movement of the water and bringing the painting to life for the viewer by her use of colour and shadow

For the animals, Sam wants the viewer to feel their inner energy through the eyes drawing out the beauty for all to see through the use of the colour palette.

When Sam is out walking, she’ll see something and that will be my next subject.

medium

Sam loves experimenting and learning new techniques and moves between abstract and realistic work. As well as movement in the piece, Sam uses texture by mixing materials in to acrylics which adds to the realism.

Rose Energy uses charcoal which blends on the canvas, followed by the darker acrylics and then lighter and inks to provide the emphasis where needed. Sam also uses textured paste to give a slight 3d effect and to bring her paintings to life
