Biography
I am a self taught lino print artist. Although lino was my preferred medium during my school art qualifications, I specialised in monumental stone masonry at university!
I am a teacher in a Special School, mainly teaching art - I am so passionate about enabling pupils to express themselves through art, especially pupils who struggle with communication and regular education - it empowers them.
I have recently come back to lino due to my love of carving in relief and the bold graphic quality of the finished products. I am especially interested in all types of handmade papers and the beautiful warmth and interest they bring to my art. Lino opens up all kind of experimental opportunities with a single image, and this is why I gain so much joy and passion from my work.
inspiration
I am inspired by all things paranormal, folklore, witchcraft and Fortean. Nature, stories and popular imagery that evokes nostalgia of long lost traditions and practices - how the world used to be such a mysterious and magical place. I want to bring that evocative earthy wonder to my own and other people's homes.
medium
I use traditional style lino printing materials in my home studio, alongside my trusty printing laminator that I use as a printing press. Every print is handmade and unique, produced on a variety of papers to give people a choice of finish and aesthetic.
