Biography
Creative team Max and Tessa (MacThreads) Kaiser bring together a vibrancy of colour and pattern. Our mission is to continue evolving and pushing the boundaries of our styles, while inspiring each other with new colour combinations, themes and ideas.
Our work is fun and arouses a lot of conversation. One of our collectors summed it up when he said that his original piece makes him smile every day he sees it. Our aspiration for the future is to exhibit at the Royal Academy’s Summer exhibition... and keeping more people smiling!
inspiration
We are driven by our mutual love of colour, pattern and light, often influenced by our adventures involving walking and travel. We get our inspiration from beautiful long walks through enchanting woods, scenic rocky outcrops or bustling towns and cities! We are both exhilarated by dramatic sunsets, magnificent Icelandic waterfalls but also the tranquility of a peaceful allotment.
medium
Max works with oil paint, creating abstract canvases full of detail – the more you look, the more you see! He constantly rotates the canvas whilst painting and this allows the viewer to experience four oil paintings in one piece of work. Each painting is a ‘labour of love’ and each intricate original takes over 6 months to finish.
Tessa works in various textile forms, from knitting to machine/hand stitching, to create blends of fabric, thread and colour. Her ‘Arty hats’ are all unique and finished off with her trademark embroidery – works of art in themselves and they even have their own names!
