Warwick Sunrise, Winter 2019

My mission is to encourage the viewer to better appreciate the splendour that is all around them in their local landscape. My vision is to capture the beauty of light reflecting off the landscape using acrylic on canvas.

I predominantly take my inspiration from the Warwickshire countryside and focus on capturing local scenes. I am particularly drawn to scenes in which sunlight, shadows and perspective conspire to draw the viewer into the composition.

I usually start my acrylic paintings with a pencil sketch on stretched canvas and block in the scene en plein air in the first sitting. If the weather allows, I then come back to finish off the painting en plein air or else finish off the painting in the studio using reference photographs. I post my work in progress on Instagram and love interacting with those following me and commenting on my work.
