Biography
David Froggatt, originally from Sheffield and now residing in West Yorkshire is an ex-teacher of Art and Design, pursuing an exploration of watercolour painting. With an interest in the 'Modern Movement' he tries to relate imagery to direct experience of still-life, landscape and vernacular architecture with occasional forays into pure abstraction and fantasy, working with a limited palette and on a small scale.
inspiration
Still-life, landscape and vernacular architecture, for example beach huts, are recurring themes and interests. His body of work grew out of an interest in the techniques and representations of the early 20th century Purist and Cubist movements and have evolved constantly into new directions.
medium
Watercolour on Arches paper, paint applied with a rigger brush onto panels that have been pre-inscribed by hard pencil work.
