My mission is to continue to explore the medium of painting as a means to comment on our interpretation of the environment that surrounds us. I believe paint is a truly magical medium which allows us as artists to capture, express and manipulate this world, highlighting its majesty, increasingly alongside its abused state.
I ‘take’ other peoples moments and memories (alongside my own). We live in a world saturated with visual imagery and a positive from this is being able to pick these moments, romanticise and then memorialise them. I take local and global imagery, and the process of painting is as important as the outcome. Created over time, I work on various pieces simultaneously. This allows me to reflect and evolve the artworks as organically as the subject matter within them.
I use oil paint. I am expressive with my use of the media and am focused on its properties alongside its ability to represent. My work is increasingly driven by limited palettes, mark making and representation from romanticism and the ‘emotional landscape’ genre.
