Polruan from the River Fowey

The aim with my work is to produce something different, it has a very textured sculptural quality, making it very detailed, I love to see people really getting close and picking out details in the paintings, recognising the places, or having some memory evoked from my “out of my head” pieces. I have recently been painting much larger pieces, which seem to be very popular, it’s just wonderful to love what you do and have it appreciated

I have always loved textured art, heavy oils on which shadows or light appears, collage, or using different mediums to create interest.
I only started my business in 2015 after admiring a painting which I couldn’t afford, so I created my own version, when a few people said they would buy it, I started painting, and haven’t stopped since.
I particularly love painting coastal scenes, landscapes or gardens, but have had a few commissions for houses,
There are a few artists from whom I have taken inspiration, but I feel as though I have created my own style which is recognised as mine through much trial and lots of errors.

I use heavy texture paste to create the scene, then paint over with acrylics and add a coat of varnish for protection. The piece is then framed.
