I seek to convey the human impact on the landscape in my photographs: the gritty beauty of decay and urban back streets; the man-made emptiness of mountain, moor and coast; the sublime depths of planted woods & forests. To avoid the twee.
Landscape is often seen through a rather wistful cultural filter and talked about as ‘timeless’ though it is anything but. It is both the impermanence of landscape and the challenge to traditional views that inspire my photography. To capture this this particular moment in time.
My camera travels with me and though there may be the odd tweak in processing, I prefer not to make huge adjustments after capturing the image.
