Biography
Working in native and rescued timbers, Fiona creates intricate landscapes, silhouettes and keepsakes.
Fiona is compelled to work with wood and is at her most content when at her saw. In a world full of the mediocre and mass production masquerading as art and craft, she is determined to get up everyday and try to skilfully make something that’s beautiful and one of a kind.

Inspiration
Fiona creates art pieces suggested by the wood she finds, the landscapes she loves, their inhabitants and their stories. She is driven by a fascination with the forms found in natures engineering and a curiosity to push the limits of what can be done with wood.
medium
Fiona's art pieces emerge over many hours of by cutting by hand, with a scrollsaw. Skill and attention to the material is required. Nothing is perfect, nor is it able to be reproduced endlessly at the push of a button. All works are unique, one off pieces.
Fiona explores what imagery the timber offers up in the grain pattern, the contrasts within the wood itself, or simply weaves the beauty of the wood into her designs. Its a joy to work a material that’s so giving and she is determined to do justice to the trees that gave it.
