Mission and Vision
Emily is an illustrator based in the midlands. After spending years working in a desk job for product manufacturing companies, she turned to illustration to make her own stories on a smaller, more personal scale. She is inspired to create one off pieces counter to mass consumer culture. She hopes that her prints, drawings and zines and fabrics will brighten up rooms and one-off mural designs add colour to any wall.
She is fascinated by quirkiness in everyday life and takes inspiration for her comics and illustrations by distilling abstract ideas from the mundane. Her first ever comic 'haydreaming' was inspired by her daydreams of leaving her office job.
Emily uses pencils, pens and paint to create her artwork, sometimes digitally editing. Her visual language focuses on combining hand made textures and limited colour palettes. Her preferred paints are gouache as they have a lovely opaque quality, but when she scales up her work onto a wall, emulsion is her paint of choice. She loves the challenge of scaling up her work and the energy of line that is created on the page.
