Street Graffiti
Biography
As an artist, I am inspired by many mediums and various themes. My goal is to continue learning and exploring different forms of expression. In the next year, I hope to work on a larger scale utilizing stencils of my artwork for graffiti.
inspiration
Over the last few years, I have been creating collages fusing street graffiti and dance. I find street graffiti to be a very intriguing art form. It represents the thoughts and inspirations of the people within those communities at that very moment in time, since it is constantly being added to and being covered up. Dance continues to inspire my work, however, I have started to experiment with other themes such as owls, birds, flowers, abstract, political themes, etc.
medium
The tools I use to create my work are adobe illustrator and photoshop. The source images of dancers come from photo shoots of my former company members. The source graffiti comes from photos I've taken over the years of street graffiti in Austin, TX, England, Spain, Italy and France. I approach my work organically. Starting with only a loose plan for an image, I create a silhouette outline and begin painting with patterns that I have created, while layering images of graffiti. I'm a very visual artist, meaning, I don't know exactly what I want until I see it. In that sense, I throw everything I have at a piece until it reveals itself.
