Bobbie Whittaker Art
Bobbie is Based in Birmingham UK. After leaving a career in Environmental Consultancy, she is now a practicing artist with her work being collected internationally.
Bobbie’s work is process based and has no rules or expectations to counteract her perfectionist tendencies. Bobbie loves creating big bold works that express emotions and increasingly reflect her appreciation of the world around her.
Bobbie's work is process based and often begins with a feeling or emotion and develops based on her initial mark making. She uses bold colours straight from the tube which she selects in response to a dominant emotion. She often uses natural forms as inspiration for her colours and layering technique, which she completes in oil paint.
She likens her layering technique to a natural formation process, with the different pressures of life adding the different layers, similar to how pressure and layering causes rock striation to form.
I use oil paints straight from the tube to apply paint using palette knives and other household objects. I love creating textured work as well as stretching the paint to its limits. I have recently started incorporating large amounts of spirits in my work to split the pain and create more interesting patterns and textures.
